Everything you need to know about our restored cabinets

How it works
What is a restored cabinet at Tenzen Arcade?
A restored cabinet undergoes a complete refurbishment before being offered for sale. In practical terms, this includes:
- A fresh coat of paint on the cabinet, carried out in the spirit of coachbuilding;
- Full replacement of the control panel, buttons and stick (2-player panel / 6 buttons as standard), as well as the stickers;
- A series of electronics tests carried out beforehand at our suppliers' over several days, then repeated in-house prior to sale.
Should these tests reveal a fault or weakness in the board or power supply, a capkit is carried out before the cabinet is put up for sale. This is therefore not a systematic step, but an intervention undertaken whenever our tests deem it necessary.
Is a restored cabinet as good as new?
Visually, it comes very close: the bodywork, stickers, control panel, buttons and joysticks are new or as good as new. It nevertheless remains a second-hand cabinet. The internal electronic components (motherboard, power supply, screen) are only replaced if the stress test reveals a genuine need, not as a matter of course. Our aim is to deliver a reliable and beautiful cabinet, not a new product in the strict sense.
Specifications
What condition is the screen in on a restored CRT cabinet?
The CRT screens on the cabinets we order in are generally in good condition on arrival, though levels of screen burn, geometry and brightness may vary slightly from one cabinet to another depending on the delivery batch. The tube is only replaced if it is faulty; otherwise, the original screen is kept as is, with no systematic replacement.
We recommend consulting the product page for the cabinet you are interested in, or asking us for further details or photographs (which are provided to you in any case) before making your purchase.
Can I customise the control panel (1-player configuration, different button layout)?
The default restored panel is a 2-player / 6-button configuration. A different configuration can be considered on request, but it is treated as a specific option that may affect the price and the delivery time. Tell us what you need and we will see what is possible.
Pricing and lead times
Why does a restored cabinet cost more than an ‘as is’ cabinet?
The price of a restored cabinet reflects the work and parts needed for its complete refurbishment (bodywork, reproduction panels and stickers, new buttons and joysticks, electronic testing). The exact price of each restored cabinet is given to you on a case-by-case basis, depending on the model and its condition on arrival.
Is the capkit included in the restoration?
Not systematically. The capkit (preventive replacement of capacitors) for the board and/or power supply is only offered on request, as a paid option or as part of a specific package. If you would like this service outside of a specific package, please let us know: this service requires additional preparation time.
What we don't do
Can I send you my own cabinet to be restored?
No, this service is not currently available. The restored cabinets we sell are refurbished by our suppliers before their arrival in France, or by our team as part of specific packs; we do not offer a restoration service on cabinets you already own.
Warranty
Do restored cabinets come with a special warranty?
As with all of our cabinets, there is no “manufacturer's” warranty on a restored cabinet: restoration is a refurbishment, not a commercial warranty issued by the original manufacturer. However, as with any purchase from Tenzen, you do benefit from the statutory warranties provided for by law: the legal warranty of conformity and the warranty against latent defects. In keeping with the nature of these second-hand products, bringing the item into conformity is carried out primarily by way of repair.
The systems supplied with our so-called “dedicated” cabinets remain in their original configuration: as a retailer, we are not entitled to make any modifications to them. This does not, however, exempt us from our legal warranty obligations as a seller, which remain fully applicable.
In any event, we remain on hand should any issue arise, in order to find a suitable solution.
